Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search box is sent directly to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. Washington County Criminal History does not retain or log those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
If you email us, the message may be kept long enough to respond and maintain the related correspondence. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
Loading a page can cause the server to receive routine technical and usage details, including:
- The IP address assigned to your device
- Which browser you are using and its version
- Your device type and operating system
- Timestamps for each page view
- The referring site, when one is reported
- Pages viewed and the time spent on them
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. They and analytics services help summarize traffic, popular pages, and points where visits end. Browser controls can block or remove cookies, although doing so may change how some site functions behave.
What We Do With This Data
- Operating, maintaining, and improving site performance
- Diagnosing errors and other technical problems
- Routing a search request to the provider selected by the tool
- Measuring which content visitors use
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Washington County Criminal History does not maintain, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It explains how to request records from the Washington County Sheriff, Clerk of Court, Georgia Crime Information Center, and Georgia Sex Offender Registry. The site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor data is not assembled into a consumer report or a dossier about another person.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search tools. Their privacy policies, not this policy, govern information submitted through those boxes. Each partner controls its retention and disclosure practices, so review its terms before running a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the Washington County government, Georgia agencies, court resources, legal services, or outside tools. Once a visitor follows a link, the destination's privacy terms govern. Review them before providing personal information.
Advertising services may use their own systems to measure activity across sites and select ads. We do not control that external tracking.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal information. Data may nevertheless be received by:
- Analytics vendors that measure traffic and performance
- Advertising networks that place or measure advertisements
- Search providers that process queries submitted to their tools
- A government or law-enforcement body acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, standard safeguards are used for information under our control. No internet service is completely secure, however, so absolute protection or freedom from a breach cannot be guaranteed.
Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If such data is identified, we will take steps to delete it.
Your Data Rights
Rights may vary with a visitor's location and applicable law. The Georgia Open Records Act, O.C.G.A. § 50-18-70 et seq., governs records held by Georgia public agencies rather than this private site. O.C.G.A. § 35-3-35 separately controls dissemination of GCIC criminal-history information. Subject to applicable law, you may:
- Request access to personal information held about you
- Ask that inaccurate information be corrected
- Request deletion where the law permits it
- Object to or opt out of eligible processing
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised as site practices or legal requirements change. A replacement policy will be posted here with its effective date.
